Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, in the Abacoa area of Jupiter, is one of the few ballparks in the country shared by two major-league teams for spring training: the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins, from mid-February through March. From April through Labor Day it hosts both teams' Single-A affiliates in the Florida State League, the Palm Beach Cardinals and the Jupiter Hammerheads, which keeps the schedule busy through summer.
The stadium opened in 1998 and seats about 6,900, so seats are close to the field and the atmosphere is relaxed. It's one of the easiest ways to catch live baseball without leaving town, and special event nights draw a bigger crowd.
Practical notes
- Spring training games draw the biggest crowds and highest ticket prices; minor-league games are cheaper and more relaxed.
- The stadium is walkable from Downtown Abacoa's restaurants and bars, so it pairs easily with dinner before or after a game.
