Burt Reynolds Park & Loxahatchee River Center

Burt Reynolds Park, along the river in town, has shaded picnic areas, a boat ramp, and the Loxahatchee River Center, a small nature center with exhibits on the river's ecosystem, a good low-key stop for families or as a break between other stops.

It's more of a quick, quiet visit than a destination in its own right: a place to launch a boat, let kids run around a shaded lawn, or spend twenty minutes at the nature center's exhibits before moving on.

Practical notes

• Generally uncrowded compared to the beach parks.
• The boat ramp sees regular use, especially on weekends, if you're launching your own boat.
• The River Center keeps shorter hours than the park: Tuesday-Wednesday noon-4 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. Admission is a $2 suggested donation. Its freshwater and saltwater tanks and touch tank take about 30 minutes to an hour.
