Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is the town's defining landmark, a red brick tower standing on a natural coastal ridge overlooking where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic. Completed in 1860, it's one of the oldest structures in Palm Beach County still in its original use, and it remains an active aid to navigation today.

Visiting

The lighthouse is operated by the Loxahatchee River Historical Society, which runs a museum on site covering the area's Seminole, pioneer, and maritime history alongside the tower itself. Admission includes the tower climb, 105 steps up a spiral staircase, plus the exhibits, and there are guided tours Tuesday through Friday at noon and 1 p.m. Climbers must be at least 48 inches tall, and children under 16 need an adult with them.

What's nearby

The surrounding grounds sit at the edge of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, with a short nature trail and views across the inlet toward DuBois Park. It pairs well with a stop at DuBois Park or Coral Cove Park, both a short drive away.

Practical notes

• Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (closed Mondays). Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 60+ and veterans, $8 for ages 6-18, and free for kids 5 and under.
• The tower climb isn't stroller- or wheelchair-accessible, and climbers must manage it unassisted; the museum and grounds are more accessible.
• Photos from the top are one of the best vantage points in town, looking out over the inlet and the Atlantic.
